The hardness in water is caused by certain salts.  The main hardness causing ions are calcium and magnesium.  

It is well known that these ions cause countless number of problems especially to human health and the devices that work with water so they have to be removed from water.

Softening units offer a water purification solution for hard water and lime scale removal.
One of the best ways to overcome the problem is to use the ion exchange method.  Sodium ion is added to replace the calcium and magnesium ions.  As a result water softening can be obtained with cationic resin. 

Water softener units are automatically regenerated with salt to replace the sodium ion.

After the process of removing the hard mineral ions such as calcium and magnesium from the resin, system discharges them as a waste. 

Water softening units are the most economic and common way of removing water hardness.

With the automation used for water softening units, regeneration process is done automatically. 

The automation of a water softening unit can be gathered under two main headings,

Manual Water Softening Units

Manual Water Softening Units does regeneration process every night (between 02:00 to 3:00) automatically.

Regeneration process can be done manually every day.

Semi-automatic Water Softening Units

Semi-automatic Softening Units are the units which does the regeneration process with salty water depending on the hardness of unrefined water and the amount of resin.

Regeneration gap of Semi-automatic Control Softening Units depends on the amount of the water used.
